Answers, without a ticket queue
Eight inventory answers. Billing changes go to the Stripe Customer Portal. Nothing here is insurance advice or tenancy advice.
How do I upload photos?
Create a room, then use Snap the room or Scan a rating plate. On a phone, Snap opens the camera. Choose a photo uses your library instead.
The browser resizes each picture to a JPEG no wider or taller than 1280 pixels before it leaves your device. ThingyProof stores that JPEG privately and queues it for a vision read. Refresh the room if a card is still marked Reading after a minute.
For a useful inventory, take one wide shot of the room and closer shots of anything you would actually claim: appliances, electronics, bikes, instruments. Glare, darkness, and motion blur produce weaker cards. You can edit every field afterwards.
How does the insurance PDF work?
From your home, choose Insurance PDF. ThingyProof builds a document with your rooms, item cards, replacement bands, and any photo thumbnails it can fit. The first page and the footer both carry the disclaimer: this is not insurance advice, not an appraisal, and not a claim.
Free accounts can download one PDF. CSV export does not use that allowance. If the room is still empty, wait for the reads to finish before you spend the free PDF.
Hand the PDF to yourself, your broker, or your insurer as a starting packet. Your insurer decides what a claim needs. We do not file claims and we do not sell cover.
How do I pay, change card, or cancel?
Home is NZ$6.99 a month or NZ$49 a year. Home+ is NZ$12.99 a month or NZ$99 a year. Checkout is Stripe. ThingyProof never sees your card number.
Cancel, switch plan, and download invoices in the Stripe Customer Portal. Open Account and choose Manage billing. There is no support desk to email about a subscription.
If your first paid charge happens and you never managed to generate a PDF, write to the address on your Stripe receipt within 14 days and ask for a goodwill refund. After day 14, annual plans are not prorated. Home+ is a real Stripe price, but the extra Home+ tools (reminders, diagnosis, solar) are switched off in this release. Paying for Home+ today gives you the same inventory tools as Home.
How do I export my data?
CSV is on the home screen and works on every plan, including Free, as often as you want. It is your contents list: room, name, brand, model, serial, category, value band, confidence, and manual-search text.
Account also has Download my data, a zip with inventory.json, inventory.csv, and the JPEGs stored for your home. Keep a copy somewhere that is not ThingyProof. Export is the point of the product.
How do I delete my account?
Open Account, type DELETE, and confirm. ThingyProof deletes your user, home, rooms, items, sessions, and the photo objects in storage. This is permanent and there is no recycle bin.
Export first if you want a copy. Cancel an active subscription in the Stripe Portal before or after deletion so a renewal does not run. Deleting the ThingyProof account does not by itself cancel Stripe; the Portal does.
The AI got an item wrong. What now?
Edit the card. Names, brands, models, serials, categories, and value bands are all yours to correct. Delete a card that should not be there. Add a card the photo missed.
Vision models misread plates, invent a digit, or guess a brand from a shape. Confidence is a hint, not a fact. Low means check it. A serial of PRACTICE-NOT-REAL means the vision service was not configured and you are looking at a practice card.
ThingyProof does not give repair advice. A wrong model number is a data error, not a diagnosis.
What are the Free limits?
Free is 1 room, 10 photos in total, and 1 insurance PDF. There is also a daily photo cap (10 on Free, 200 on Home and Home+) so a single day cannot run away.
The room limit is how many rooms you have right now. Deleting your only room lets you create another. Photo and PDF counts do not reset when you delete a room. CSV export and account export stay available after you hit the PDF cap.
Home removes the room, photo, and PDF caps, aside from the daily fair-use photo cap. No card is required to start.
What happens to my photos?
Photos are private objects, not public links. Only your signed-in browser can load them. We do not sell them and we do not train models on them.
When a vision key is configured, the JPEG is sent to Google Gemini Flash-Lite through Cloudflare AI Gateway so the model can read it and return JSON. The model is a read-only vision model. ThingyProof never asks it to generate an image.
Delete the account and the photos go with it. Details are on the privacy page.
ThingyBond condition reports
ThingyBond is the New Zealand renter record on this site: move-in, current, and move-out photos of the property, not a contents inventory. A move-out report can store a link to an earlier move-in or current report. Premium compare is coming soon. ThingyBond keeps the link to the earlier report and does not place the two records side by side in this release.
The official inspection form is published by Tenancy Services. Complete and sign that form with your landlord or agent. ThingyBond does not give legal advice.
ThingyBond organises photos and factual notes as a supporting record. It does not replace the official New Zealand Tenancy Services property inspection report, does not give legal advice, and does not guarantee bond outcomes. Agents, landlords, and the Tenancy Tribunal decide what weight any record carries. Complete and sign the official inspection report with your landlord/agent as required.
